So, a recent music video by Lil Nas X called MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” has stirred a lot of controversy on social media, especially among religious Americans. One of them is Governor of South Dakota, Kristi Noem who engaged in a public feud with Nas on the “Satan shoes” he is releasing.

Governor Noem has a problem with Lil Nas X’s recent shoe line, which he is releasing in collaboration with MSCHF. Unironically, they’re calling them “Satan shoes” and are releasing only 666 pairs of these custom Nikes. And that’s not even the most absurd thing about these shoes. These shoes will, in fact, contain one drop of actual human blood in them.

This particular aspect about the shoe caught Governor Kristi Noem’s eye on Twitter. She tweeted:

Our kids are being told that this kind of product is, not only okay, it’s “exclusive.” But do you know what’s more exclusive? Their God-given eternal soul.

We are in a fight for the soul of our nation. We need to fight hard. And we need to fight smart. We have to win.

Lil Nas X saw the tweet and could not resist responding. He highlighted how an actual governor of an entire state has the time to tweet about some shoes, tweeting:

And it felt like Governor Noem did have the time to tweet about Nas’s shoes. She then quoted Matthew 16:26 from the Bible, which read:

What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?

In response, Nas quoted a verse. But, it wasn’t a verse from the Bible or the old testament. In fact, it was a verse from his own song:

“Shoot a child in your mouth while I’m ridin'”

-Montero 1:08

And so this is how Governor of South Dakota vs. Lil Nas X took place on Twitter. Very few people thought such a feud could ever take place. But, it’s 2021 and by now, we’ve seen enough to know nothing is impossible. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments below.
