Sebastian Stan is in the news again due to the success of Falcon and Winter Soldier. But, Marvel isn’t the only franchise Stan is being linked to. For a while, fans have wanted to see Stan don the role of Luke Skywalker in upcoming Star Wars projects. And now, Stan has responded to these rumors as well.
Is Sebastian Stan set to become the new Luke Skywalker?
In a recent interview on Good Morning America, the Winter Soldier was asked if he is considering playing a younger version of Luke Skywalker. And these rumors have special meaning since the actor who played the iconic role of Luke, Mark Hamill himself has given his blessing to Sebastian Stan. Co-host Robin Roberts asked Stan:
People are wondering about you perhaps playing a young Luke Skywalker. Even Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker himself, has tweeted his support.
To that, Sebastian Stan responded that he would only do so if Hamill contacted him personally, saying:
Well, if Mark Hamill calls me personally to tell me that he feels inclined to share this role with me, then I’ll believe it. Until then, I won’t believe it.
Now, we don’t know when or if Hamill will call Stan. But, Hamill has identified in the past on Twitter that his younger version shares some resemblance to Stan. Furthermore, Stan himself is a great actor with a wide range of emotions who is perfectly capable of working in a humungous franchise like Star Wars. In response to a fan’s questions back in 2018, Hamill responded that his complete support is with Sebastian Stan for the role, saying:
Sebastian doesn’t need my stamp of approval! He’s a wonderful actor & is never less than great in everything he does.
Whether we’ll see Sebastian Stan as the most popular and powerful Jedi in the universe is a different question. Until then, we’ll simply enjoy his brilliant performance in his current Marvel project.
