Arrested Development actress Jessica Walter has died at the age of 80. She died on Wednesday at her home in New York City. Walter was most famously known for her role as Lucille Bluth in Arrested Development.

Her daughter, Brooke Bowman, broke the heartbreaking news

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mom Jessica. A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on screen and off. While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”

20th Television, the studio for Arrested Development, also made an official statement regarding Jessica Walter’s death

“Jessica Walter’s spectacular turn as the devilish Lucille Bluth is one of the great comedic performances of television history, and we loved working with her as much as audiences loved her. Our hearts go out to her family and friends, particularly her daughter, and our former colleague, Brooke. We know that heaven just got a whole lot funnier with Jessica now in residence.”

Jessica Walter was also a voice for the character of Malory Archer on FX’s series, ‘Archer’. The show was going into its 12th official season. She also starred in many popular shows such as ‘Retired at 35’, and ‘Amy Prentiss’. Walter even won an Emmy for her performance in ‘Amy Prentiss’.

Whilst promoting the latest season of Arrested Development in 2018, Jessica Walter revealed that her co-star Jeffrey Tambor (who played her on-screen ex-husband) was verbally abusive towards her:

“He never crossed the line on our show, with any, you know, sexual whatever. Verbally, yes, he harassed me, but he did apologize. In like almost 60 years of working, I’ve never had anybody yell at me like that on a set.”

The actress was beloved in the industry and many are devasted at the news

Many tweeted out their condolences to Jessica Walter’s family and had nothing but praise for the late actress. Everyone was remembering her iconic lines and hilarious moments on-screen.

Her Arrested Development co-star, David Cross, also tweeted out:

Rest in peace, Jessica Walter.
