Marvel is back with the bang. After the success of the first Marvel Disney+ project WandaVision, their second Disney+ exclusive series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier aired its first episode on the streaming site. And judging by the numbers they’re amassing, it’s clear that the fans really did miss the MCU.

After the success WandaVision enjoyed, fans are eager to see Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan go solo. After all, they were the closest allies of Captain America, whom the MCU dearly misses. Due to the tragic end of Avengers: Endgame, Chris Evans’s Steve Rogers is no longer a part of the MCU. So, Cap’s shield now rests on Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. The two didn’t get to interact with each other in the debut episode. But, it’s clear that they’re set for an epic journey in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

But, the first episode didn’t just set the tone for the rest of the show. It also set new records for Disney+.

Falcon and Winter Soldier Becomes Most-Watched Disney+ Debut.

In a recent press release, Disney revealed that episode 1 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has become the most-watched series premiere on Disney+. With this record, the series surpassed the record set by the season 2 premiere of The Mandalorian and Marvel’s WandaVision. Disney did not release the viewership numbers of the episodes, but models suggest that around 1.7 million households watched the episode. This news coincides with Disney+ surpassing 100 million subscribers at the start of the month.

These numbers indicate that the MCU’s Phase 4 is off to a flying start with WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. It has been almost 2 years since fans last saw a Marve movie, due to the COVID pandemic. These shows managed to give fans some much-needed content to enjoy every week. And they’re extremely excited for a lot more Disney+ and Marvel content that is lining up for them in the coming months, which includes Tom Hiddlestone’s Loki series, which is set to premiere on June 11. Until then, we have episode 2 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier to look forward to which will stream on March 26.
