After two years, it seems like Elton John’s feud with Rod Stewart has finally ended. After falling out in 2018 over Stewart calling John’s farewell tour “money-grabbing”, the two have finally made amends.
Rod Stewart and Elton John are back to being friends!
After Stewart’s initial remarks on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Elton John responded in his autobiography how Stewart had the “f**king cheek” to lecture John when he:
spent the last decade crooning his way through the Great American Songbook and ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’.
Despite this harsh exchange of words, Stewart appeared on The Harry Redknapp Show podcast on Tuesday, 19th of January, and clarified that he reflected on his past comments and now the two are “good mates” again. He said:
We’re friends again now, me and Elton. We had the worst row, like a married couple, it went on forever. But he just said ‘I’ve forgiven Rod and everything’… No, I do love him.
Stewart further talked about the feud, saying:
We’ve always been fierce enemies through the years but it’s always been at a playful level, but I was a bit spiteful about when he announced his tour. He’d retired a couple of times before, three years to retire, and I got spiteful and I regret it. I really do regret it, but anyway we’re all good mates now.
Last year, Rod Stewart also expressed how sad he was to have a falling out with Sir Elton John. He told Chris Evans how they both lived nearby in Berkshire and supported Watford Football Club, saying:
No we were real close, I mean we were very close when we both lived in Berkshire, he lived just round the corner. It’s sad.
Stewart must be over the moon right now to know that he is now on good terms with his great old friend.
