Are you ready?! Cobra Kai Season 3 is going to come earlier than we previously thought! Instead of premiering on January 8th, we are going to see our favorite Karate Dojos fight it out on January 1st, 2021. What a great way to start the new year, right?!
I, for one, am pretty excited about this news because I recently binge-watched the two seasons in a day. Yep, a day. You may not have believed me pre-quarantine era but now you can actually beleive it. So, I’m so glad that Netflix blessed us with this New Year’s Eve gift! Cobra Kai season 3!
The news was shared in iconic Cobra Kai fashion. Check it out:
We see Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) logging into a Netflix account and changing the release date of Cobra Kai season 3. It goes from January 8th to January 1st! Bless you, Johnny. He also accompanied the news with a special message to the fans:
“QUIET! I heard you all whining about Season 3 taking forever. So I called the pawn shop and the guy walked me through this Netflix thing. Dude knows his stuff. Now you get it a week early. See you Jan 1, nerds.”
Fortunately for us all, Cobra Kai’s season 3 episodes were produced a while ago. In truth, the third season was already complete before YouTube sold the series to Netflix. But Netflix wanted to create hype for the series so they only released the first two seasons intially. Hence, we’re getting season 3 sooner than we thought!
The trailer for the upcoming season of Cobra Kai was released a few weeks ago as well:
It’s revealed that Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña) ends up living! It was unclear whether he’d survived that vicious fall. Though, he needs a lot of physical therapy and the chances of him doing karate again seem slim. But Johnny is there to support him and bring him back.
We also see something else that’s quite sad. Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) is in a correctional facility that seems like a prison. He is probably serving time there after he accidentally injured Miguel during the high school fight. We’re not sure if we’ll come back to Miyago-Do or join Cobra Kai.
Moreover, the Cobra Kai dojo has been taken from Johnny Lawrence and given to the franchise’s original villain, John Kreese (Martin Kove). Some of the old members are still there like Hawk. But unfortunately, we also see newcomers like Kyler (Joe Seo) and his bully buddies.
Danny LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) is also struggling with karate and what it means to him so he goes to visit his Mr. Miyagi’s hometown: Okinawa. There Danny will reunite with old Karate Kid characters Chozen and Kumiko! Miyagi-do is probably going to upgrade and evolve as the show needs it to.
Meanwhile, there still seems to be some hostility between Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser) and Tory Schwarber (Peyton List), whose fight initiated the huge fight between the two dojos. Let’s see if these two work things out or not!
Plus, I’m also curious if former best friends Eli Moskowitz/Hawk (Jacob Bertrand) and Demetri (Gianni DeCenzo) resolve their differences too. I can’t be the only one who wants these two binary bros back together?!
And of course, Mrs. LaRusso. Amanda LaRusso (Courtney Henggeler) was seen making some badass moves on Kreese in the trailer for season 3. I hope we get to see Amanda do some more karate. Her character definitely needed more screentime.
