Alyssa Milano Lends “Olive Branch” to Trump Supporters, but gets called out for Hypocrisy
Things have been going pretty well for Alyssa Milano for the past few weeks. Her preferred candidate won the US Presidential elections and her most despised one lost it. And there’s no denying the fact that this is the deepest that America has been divided since the Civil War. With Joe Biden winning the election, she decided to extend an “olive branch” to Trump supporters. However, she instead got called out for her hypocrisy, with people asking if she would have done the same had Donald Trump won the election? And many liberals and leftists also rejected her move to lend support to “bigots”.
This week on social media, Joe Biden remained strong in his rhetoric of bridging the divide, tweeting:
I believe America is strongest when we work with our allies.
It’s how we keep this country safe, counter terrorism and extremism, control this pandemic, deal with the climate crisis, and so much more.

Alyssa Milano wants to move “Forward Together”

Moreover, many of his supporters share the same idea of how to deal with this unprecedented bipartisanship. And Alyssa Milano is one of them too. In fact, she took it a bit further, extending a truce to Trump supporters as well, saying:
I’d like to extend an olive branch to Trump supporters.
I am ready to move #ForwardTogether.
There’s so much work to do to heal the nation. Let’s be a part of the solution and not add to the problems we face. My comments are open. Please reply with #ForwardTogether.

However, Milano almost immediately got called out for her hypocrisy. Many Trump supporters and leftists alike noted in the replies, saying that Milano had behaved for the past four years like a loser. She was not willing to address or talk to Trump supporters at all. And now, she’s only being “gracious” because Joe Biden won. Therefore, her extending an “olive branch” seems quite hypocritical.
Liberals and leftists do not agree with Milano
One user, Anthony Clark, was not at all lenient towards Alyssa Milano. He was not willing to lend any branch to “racists” and “bigots,” saying:
Glad you can extend an olive branch, but I have no olives or branches for racists & bigots. There can be no unity with those who want to see people that are different marginalized & oppressed
honestly anyone a true ally would demand they change not accept who they are

Furthermore, Twitter user Rachel also rejected the idea of #ForwardTogether, saying:
NO – I’m done extending the olive branch first. It’s THEIR turn – THEY need to show genuine remorse and regret and give a genuine apology before I will even consider it. I will not extend my hand to the Proud Boys, to those who laughed as Trumpers tried to run a Biden bus

Conservatives also reject Milano’s support
Another user Stephanie Bracken, this time on the conservative side of the political spectrum called out Milano for hypocrisy, saying:
I remember you. You were the one glaring at Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his hearings. You were the one that called conservatives every name in the book and didn’t sensor [sic] your words in the least. No way you’d be offering an olive branch had your party lost … How about NO.

And Jon Hollis, who had been a Republican candidate for California’s 28th Congressional District seat, shared a similar sentiment with Bracken, saying:
You want to extend an olive branch to the 74,000,000 plus people you have demeaned, patronized, attacked, lied about, falsely called racist, etc. That’s like being shot and then the criminal comes back and says ‘Hey, we can still be friends, right?’ Your delusion knows no end!

Finally, conservative political commentator Joel Pollack, also pointed out Alyssa Milano’s hypocrisy, tweeting:
I approach liberal friends/relatives with whom I have disagreed to mend fences *BEFORE* the election. You don’t get to declare this just because ‘your side’ won. If you want reconciliation, and you didn’t do it before Nov. 3, begin with an apology. We deserve it. #ForwardTogether

A long-standing critic of Donald Trump
Throughout the past four years, Alyssa Milano has been one of the most vocal critics of Donald Trump and Republicans among celebrity activists. The Charmed actress tweeted hardly weeks before the election, saying:
America or Trump. You can’t love both #BidenWon
America or Trump. You can't love both. #BidenWon
— Alyssa Milano (@Alyssa_Milano) October 23, 2020
Moreover, her podcast Sorry Not Sorry, which means she does not apologize to those disagreeing with her, seems ironic considering her stance now that Trump has lost. This makes “Forward Together” seem hollow. And in the past, Milano has had a problem with Bernie Sanders too for not willing to extend a hand to the right. Therefore, her flip-flopping stances do not sit well with a large number of people on either end of the political spectrum.
