Isaiah Washington can’t stop, won’t stop. The former Grey’s Anatomy star took to social media to re-ignite his feud with Grey’s Anatomy co-star, Katherine Heigl. This came 13 years after he had been fired from the ABC drama for allegedly using a homophobic slur.
Isaiah took to Twitter to share a photo of his former co-star with a caption about free speech.
The caption said, “This woman once proclaimed that I should “never” be allowed to speak publicly again. The world agreed with her proclamation back then and protested for my job and my head in 65 languages. I wish I was on Twitter in 2007 because I will NEVER stop exercising my free speech.”
How The Feud Between Isaiah & Katherine Began
Isaiah had left the ABC show after having an on-set clash a year before. The incident involved a homophobic slur directed at another cast member, T.R. Knight.
However, Katherine had come to her friend’s defense, which had ignited the whole feud. She was “furious and frustrated” with Isaiah.
Although, Isaiah did apologize for the incident in a statement to People in October 2006.
‘I sincerely regret my actions and the unfortunate use of words during the recent incident on-set,” he had said.
Katherine had addressed the situation weeks after the 2007 Golden Globes where he had not only denied using the slur but also repeated it.
“I’m going to be really honest right now, he needs to just not speak in public. Period. I’m sorry, that did not need to be said, I’m not OK with it.”
However, re-igniting the feud now shows he clearly did not think he did anything wrong. According to Isaiah, using anti-gay slurs is “free speech.”
This point was brought by writer, Elizabeth Denton on social media after seeing Isaiah’s recent tweet.
So naturally, Isaiah was defensive. He replied back saying, “Your opinions are your own, but you are a fool, a liberal and misguided feminist to even try and defend this woman. You weren’t there, so die on this hill, whoever you are. She could have cared less about her gay friend. Chandra Wilson knows all about that too.”
Moreover, when a fan asked why he brought this up again after 13 years, he replied, “Because it’s the TRUTH. The End.”
