Another day, another reason for Malu Trevejo haters to cancel her. However, they are taking it to the extreme this time. And for no reason. It’s Halloween season and all the celebrities and influencers are sharing their awesome costumes/looks for the holiday. In case of Malu, her first Halloween look is Rihanna-inspired and a part of the internet was not ready for it.
Malu Trevejo’s Riri-inspired Halloween look
Rihanna released her 7th studio album, Unapologetic, on November 19, 2012. She went topless for the album cover art, and she had a reason to do it. Riri had been facing many controversies around the time she released Unapologetic. Therefore, her album was focusing on the controversies as well. Rihanna stripped nak*d for the album cover. And there were slogans written on her.
Malu Trevejo channeled the slogans-free look of Rihanna for the Halloween this year. And all the credit goes to her makeup artist, Troy Jensen, for creating such a stunning look.
Troy used Urban Decay Cosmetics products to create the Rihanna-inspired look. While Malu topped up the overall look with jewellery from Camilla Seretti.
Backlash from the fans
While Malu Trevejo’s fans totally loved the look, Rihanna’s fans did not like Malu copying the badgirl Riri. The comments section of Malu’s Instagram post is filled with backlash for trying to “imitate” Rihanna.
They went ahead and called Malu out for “disrespecting” the queen.
Some even called her out for not looking like herself.
Malu Trevejo and her fans react to the backlash
Malu took notice of the backlash she was receiving under her Halloween post. She clapped back at the haters through her Instagram story.
She also clarified that she is not trying to compare herself to Rihanna, it’s just Halloween.
Malu Trevejo’s fans also clapped back at haters to stop the cancel culture.
People often choose their favorite celebrity’s famous looks for Halloween. And Malu Trevejo did the same.
