Brett Cullen: Thomas Wayne On Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker
Brett Cullen is the new Thomas Wayne in Todd Philip’s Joker. The pictures from Warner Bros. comic book film, starring Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role, surfaced giving a glimpse of the new Thomas Wayne. These leaks give fans an intriguing sneak-peek into the upcoming movie on the DC villain. The film will follow through the life of Joker back in the 80s. When he was an unaccomplished comedian-Arthur Fleck.
Sorry Alex Baldwin Fans!
Sources touted earlier that Alex Baldwin was the original Thomas Wayne in this Joaquin Phoenix movie. But, according to some reports, he stepped out the very moment the news of his casting came out. The makers had a tough time before they finalized Brett Cullen for the movie. Cullen has started already on the franchise’s Dark Knight Rises; hence he is a face the brand is familiar with. The leaks reveal Brett Cullen on the sets and shooting for the Joker.
The images from the New York City set of Joker reveal Brett Cullen in his new avatar. Previous teasers had shown Thomas Wayne in his surge to take over the mayor’s seat in Gotham. But, the leaks so far do not indicate much about his political campaign.
Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker Is Holding Some Photographs
The leaks show Thomas Wayne as his regular upper- class self. But one startling image had us thinking. Joaquin Phoenix is holding some papers as Joker. And, we wonder how does that connect to Brett Cullen’s role in the film. If we believe earlier reports, this can be a very big easter egg for the movie. The paper or image in Joker’s hand is his mother’s. And he is probably rushing to Thomas Wayne to reveal to him that he is his illegitimate child. Can this be a possibility? Well, there have been enough hints.
If that is to be the case, then the leaks are from very early in the film. Joker has still not overwhelmed Arthur yet, and things are not as ugly. Joker is about Arthur’s life prior to becoming the crazy, savage villain. It will be seen that several tragic instances will push Joaquin Phoenix ‘s character into the dooms of psychotic anarchy and extreme craze. Meanwhile, if his biological father, Thomas Wayne (Brett Cullen) refuses to accept him; things will definitely phase out to become horrendous Joker, and for Batman in future.
