Author JK Rowling making super transphobic remarks has been extremely difficult to forget. As a Potterhead (fan of the Harry Potter franchise) myself, hearing her make all these remarks has been disappointing. To say the least. And apparently, Pete Davidson agrees with me and all other fans.
Pete decided to stop by Weekend Update to give his two cents about JK Rowling making those transphobic remarks. Of course, since it is Saturday Night Live, it was a humorous skit. However, Pete did not forget to mention how the things she said against trans people were “disappointing.”
When Pete was asked how he first felt when he heard what she said, he answered, “It really hurt because I have a close connection to those movies.”
He then made a funny remark, comparing himself to dobby, a character from the Harry Potter books and movies. “I even look like Dobby the house elf if he became a TikTok rapper. The only difference between me and Dobby is I’m a real person and his movies get released in theaters.”
According to Pete Davidson, the whole JK Rowling-transphobia ordeal has been disappointing.
“What’s wrong with her?” he added. “She creates a seven-book fantasy series about all types of mythical creatures living in harmony with wizards and elves and the one thing she can’t wrap her head around is Laverne Cox?”
What JK Said That Was Disappointing To Pete
Back in June of this year, JK made an argument that same-sex attraction and the reality of women are erased if “sex isn’t real.” These comments were made in response to the phrase, “people who m*nstruate.”
However, JK did defend her remarks later by penning down a lengthy essay. But it was too late then.
Moreover, she faced a lot of backlash through Twitter by her former fans who were, as Pete said, disappointed by what she said. She explained why she spoke up in the first place. But of course, the damage had already been done.
