Lana Del Rey Declared “Karen” By Internet
Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, there has been a lot of buzz about following the SOPs. And the latest target for the public has, unfortunately, been singer, Lana Del Ray.
The use of face masks has been politically opposed by Republicans. However, the issue had pretty much died down. That is, until President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were tested positive for COVID-19.
Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, celebrities have been at the center of everyone’s attention. (I mean, when are they ever not?) But in times of a global crisis, people needed celebrities to be the role models they claim to be and encourage everyone to follow the SOPs. However, stars like Justin Bieber and Ana de Armas were seen without masks at the beginning of the pandemic. But thankfully, the power of the Internet changed their minds about the importance of masks and ever since then, they were not seen out without one. Furthermore, Dua Lipa and Jaden Smith were also criticized for going to parties in the middle of a pandemic, that too without masks. And now, the latest target, Lana Del Ray. But why is she being targeted?
Lana Del Ray Upsets Fans
Lana faced a lot of backlash from angry Twitter users when she turned up to the signing of her debut poetry collection titled “Violent Bent Backwards Over the Grass.”
However, it was not her lack of a mask that caused the uproar but the mask she chose to wear. Lana was seen sporting a mesh mask at a Los Angeles Barnes & Noble. A twitter user could not help but point out her mask, tweeting, “My friend saw Lana Del Rey out and about in that same embellished-mesh mask from Interview Magazine feature. Which is NOT A SAFE MASK leading me to wonder. Is Lana del Rey anti-mask??”

A fan wrote, “Lana Del Rey not wearing a real face mask on her book signing. I don’t know what to feel about this. SMH.”

lana del rey being a dumb bitch once again, wearing a mask isn’t protecting others, hosting a book signing and having it shut down because they couldn’t follow the 6ft distance rule. pic.twitter.com/JKzsDEvoMC

OKAY LOOK. I luv lana del rey. ive spent money on her merch. ive gone to her concerts. and i love her music. but i am really frustrated with the choice of doing a book signing during a pandemic and seemingly not wearing a proper mask.

She was then compared to a random Karen by another Twitter user.

However, I personally do not see what the problem is. As another fan pointed out, there is protective lining under masks like these.
before you all drag Lana Del Rey, there's a plastic protector under that mask but yeah still should've worn an appropriate mask if you're going Instagram Live

But I guess not everyone knows that. Lana should be more careful knowing how she might be encouraging others to do the same thing. I do sincerely hope Lana Del Ray and other stars have learned their lesson. They really need to start acting more like role models and less like “stars to whom rules don’t apply.”
How stupid is @LanaDelRey for wearing this mask to a large book signing and taking pictures with fans. We get it you’re pretty but do better. pic.twitter.com/Etm6nYbKkt
