Kumail Nanjiani Praises Marvel for delaying Eternals production
In normal times, actors like Kumail Nanjiani would be devastated to hear about their movie’s production being delayed. But, as you may have heard a million times by now, we are living in unprecedented times. Marvel fans recently got to hear the tragic but expected news of the delay of three upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Black Widow, Eternals, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings have all been pushed way towards the end of 2021. For Eternals, the new release date is November 5, 2021, which is a full year late from its previous date. But, Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani is praising this decision by Marvel, despite the disappointment.
Nanjiani recently tweeted that he believes Marvel made the right decision to delay Eternals. He highlighted that health and safety concerns should be the top priority instead of profits, saying:
Eternals delayed to Nov 5, 2021. Marvel made the right & responsible decision. There’s a pandemic. Nothing is more important than health & lives. I can’t tell (people) to go to a movie theater until I feel safe going to one. Take care of yourselves. I promise it’ll be worth the wait!”

Kumail Nanjiani is hyped about Eternals
Kumail Nanjiani is set to play the role of Kingo in Eternals. And he has repeatedly said in the past that the movie will be worth the wait. Nanjiani loves working with the director Chloé Zhao, saying that working with her “has been one of the most thrilling and satisfying experiences”. When fans asked him about Eternals, Nanjiani replied:
“I know there isn’t much news yet! I’m in the dark too, trust me. I can’t wait for it, whenever it comes. But I promise the movie will be worth the wait. It’s the most exciting, fun, epic, thrilling, hilarious & moving project I’ve ever been a part of. And it’s massive. The scale of it is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I would walk on to shoot and be awestruck by the sets every day.”
And Nanjiani may have a point as well. Marvel’s Eternals will introduce a new line of superheroes to the MCU. Eternals are an alien race that has been living among humans for thousands of years in secret. After the events of Avengers Endgame, a tragedy forces the Eternals to unite against an ancient enemy, The Deviants.
Along with Kumail Nanjiani, Eternals will feature a star-studded cast. It also includes Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Salma Hayak as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Barry Keoghan as the aloof longer Druig, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena, and finally, Kit Harrington as Dane Whitman aka Black Knight. As you can see, most of these stars need no introductions at all. So, fans will be hoping that the delay is worth it.
