John Boyega To Star In New Thriller Movie About Terrorism
When John Boyega said he had moved on from Star Wars, he wasn’t lying. The actor is currently involved in a number of projects. And his new upcoming psychological thriller movie is going to be about terrorism!
According to Deadline, the movie is an adaptation of Sylvain Neuvel’s novel ‘The Test’. The movie will have X-Men Origins: Wolverine director Gavin Hood at the helm and also feature Last Knights actor, Payman Maadi. The movie follows an immigrant (Maadi) who is taking a citizen evaluation test, with a young behavioral psychologist (Boyega) as his supervisor. However, a far-right group then attacks the pair, forcing the two to band together. Hood described the film as:
“a heart-pounding psychological thriller, set in an authoritarian near-future that grabbed me by the throat and left me reeling”.
We can’t wait to see ‘The Test’ in the theatres. But, it is far from being the only interesting project John Boyega is a part of.
Other big projects for John Boyega
Recently, the BBC just released official look photos of John Boyega in character for Steve McQueen’s anthology drama Small Axe. Moreover, the picture came after a five-year-long wait of the show being announced. Small Axe is a mini-series with stand-alone episodes that will tell five separate stories set between the 1960s and 1980s from London’s West Indian community. Boyega’s episode will be called ‘Red, White and Blue’, in which he’ll be playing a police officer named Leroy Logan. But, John Boyega has been in the news recently for more than just his upcoming projects.
Boyega has recently taken a very strong stance against racism in the industry. The most notable of those stances, however, was once against Disney for sidelining his character Finn from Star Wars. And the other came against Jo Malone, when the British perfume company excluded Boyega from the Chinese version of their ad which he himself created. As a result, Boyega quit as Jo Malone’s global ambassador.
