Netflix buys rights to Shia LaBeouf’s Pieces of a Woman

Yearning to watch a good family drama movie? Wait no more because Kornél Mundruczó’s latest hit ‘Pieces of a Woman’ is coming to your Netflix accounts. Pieces of a Woman portrays the story of Martha’s failed homebirth and the role of her husband, mother, acquaintances, and friends in overcoming the tragedy. The cast includes Vanessa Kirby (Martha), Shia LaBeouf (her husband), Ellen Burstyn (Martha’s mother), Molly Parker (Martha’s midwife), Iliza Shlesinger, Sarah Snook, Jimmie Falls, and other familiar faces. The movie has been produced by Hollywood’s shining star Martin Scorsese, written by Kata Weber and directed by the famous Hungarian director Kornél Mundruczó.

Pieces of a woman coming to Netflix has helped increase its popularity

Mundruczó’s has released seventeen films in the last two decades and landed multiple awards. He gained spotlight after his 2014 hit ‘White God’. Fans were expecting his latest and his first English-language film to be as spectacular as his previous masterpieces. As Pieces of a Woman comes to Netflix, its current popularity will definitely benefit it. Indeed, the movie did not disappoint and has already been nominated as the ‘Best Film’ for the Golden Lion award at the 77th Venice International Film Festival 2020. The movie had its world premiere at the same event on 4th September 2020. Its lead actress won Volpi Cup for ‘Best Actress’. Its popularity and ratings are increasing each day, especially after its screening at the Toronto International Film Festival on 13th September. 

Mundruczó is excited to sign the deal with Netflix and see his work reach a worldwide audience.

As a European filmmaker, I couldn’t be more excited and appreciative of finding my home for this film with Netflix. Their taste in independent cinema feels like the United Artists of the 1970s. The true champions of filmmakers and original voices for today.

He said after signing the deal for Pieces of a Woman with Netflix.
