Pretty Little Liars Reboot happening by Riverdale Creator
Pretty Little Liars, a TV show with so much happening at the same time, ended in 2017. We saw the girls Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale), Hannah Marin (Ashley Benson), Spencer Hastings (Torian Bellisario), and Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell) bid their final goodbye in peace. And for Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse), she got her own spin-off series, The Perfectionists alongside Mona Vanderwasi (Janel Parrish). After a wholesome 7 seasons, we thought we were done with the show. And the spin-off was also a failure so there really seemed to be not much scope for possible Pretty Little Liars reboots. However, in a turn of events, Riverdale Creator, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is bringing one?! The Hollywood Reporter talks!
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is spearheading a new take on the former Freeform mega-hit. The new PLL is said to feature a new story and new characters, with Aguirre-Sacasa set to pen the script.
Does a Pretty Little Liars reboot by Riverdale executives make sense? Here are a few thoughts.
When PLL ended, most fans looking for a similar show to watch ended up with CW’s Archie Comics spin-off. Both the series have similar murder mystery high school plot. Some scenes like when Jughead’s death is faked even remind you of Alison and her whole deal. Also, the producers of Riverdale already have a weak plot going on there, would another of their productions be worth it? Meanwhile, we question if it’s still one and the same, why have a Pretty Little Liars reboot anyway?
More so, sources say that it won’t have the same plot line or characters as the original. We ask here, how does the Riverdale producer bring Pretty Little Liars back by creating a whole new set and plot? It, in no way, would be the same. This way it seems as though the only thing common in the reboot and Pretty Little Liars would be the name… And that too is highly unlikely.
