In his recent IGTV video on Instagram, Dwayne Johnson spared very little detail. He gave a detailed account of what he and his family underwent through the past month due to COVID-19. He first made sure how the Coronavirus is not at all like other diseases or injuries, saying:

“I could tell you that this has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we’ve had to endure as family, and for me personally, as well. Testing positive for COVID-19 is a lot different than recovering from nasty injuries, getting evicted or being broke, which I’ve been more than a few times.”

Johnson further said how relieved he was that his family was fine and that he felt helpless. As he could not protect his family:

“The reason I feel this is different is my No. 1 priority is to always protect my family, protect my children, my loved ones… so this one was a real kick in the gut. But I am happy to tell you guys that we as a family are good.”

Dwayne Johnson further continued and was “counting his blessings”, as not everyone makes it through this virus. In fact, his close friends lost many loved ones, as he revealed:

“We are counting our blessings right now, because we are well aware that it isn’t always the case that you get on the other end of COVID-19. Some of my best friends have lost their parents, their loved ones, to this virus that is so incredibly relentless and unforgiving and it is insidious.”

Dwayne Johnson joins a list of high profile Hollywood celebrities who tested positive for COVID-19. Others include Tom Hanks, Usain Bolt, Alyssa Milano, Bryan Cranston, Kevin Durant, Edris Alba, and many others.

Despite testing positive, his family had mild symptoms

Despite contracting the coronavirus, Dwayne Johnson said there were a few silver linings. For his family, the silver lining was that his two daughters only had mild symptoms, like “little sore throat”. He continued:

“Other than that they bounced back and it’s been life as normal. Happy babies running around and playing.”

However, Johnson and his wife were not so lucky as their daughters. They had a “tough go”, and as a result, Dwayne Johnson used his platform to raise awareness about the precautions necessary to avoid contracting COVID-19. He said:

“Wear your mask, it is a fact, it is the right to do, it is the responsible thing to do, but also, not only for yourself or for your family or loved ones, but also for your fellow human beings… I am not a politician, I am a man who cares about my family deeply and will do everything I can to protect them, but I am also a man who cares about all of you guys.”

At the end of the 11-minute long IGTV video, Dwayne Johnson mentioned the tips to prevent catching the Coronavirus. He also mentioned those tips in the caption of the video, saying:

“Stay disciplined. Boost your immune system. Commit to wellness. Wear your mask. Protect your family. Be strict about having people over your house or gatherings. Stay positive. And care for your fellow human beings.”

It’s important that Dwayne Johnson used his popularity to raise awareness about COVID-19. This is because some celebrities, like Madonna, resorted to believing in conspiracy theories. And that kind of misinformation spread to millions of fans worldwide can have devastating effects. That is why Instagram flagged her post numerous times.
