Ryan Reynolds Gives Worrying Deadpool 3 Update In Three Words
And it doesn't look good.
Deadpool fans are growing impatient for some official news about Deadpool 3. After all, who doesn’t want to watch the only R-rated foul-mouthed superhero? The last film was released way back in 2018, but it looks like we’re no closer to any news about the third film, as Ryan Reynolds himself is no longer sure.
Ryan Reynolds has three words to say about Deadpool 3
For now, even Ryan Reynolds has nothing to add about Deadpool 3. He recently gave an interview with Fast Company. The lead actor no longer has any new light to shed on the matter, giving a worrying three-word update:
“Three words. I don’t know. Obviously, everything is on pause right now.”
Things have changed since the last Deadpool film was released. Disney bought 21st Century Fox, as a result, acquiring X-Men and the Deadpool franchise as well. Fans were very excited about this takeover, as it raised the chances of Wade Wilson making an appearance around Thor, Iron Man, and other heroes of the MCU. Even Ryan Reynolds himself was excited after the takeover for Deadpool 3, saying that:
“Deadpool hopefully being allowed to play in that sandbox, I think is just a win for everyone involved.”
Reynolds has been hopeful for Deadpool 3 since last December. Very recently, he even celebrated the six-year anniversary of the famous Deadpool leaks, tweeting:

But due to the pandemic, and a general coldness from Disney towards Deadpool 3, things are looking murky. But, business isn’t over for Ryan Reynolds. He is working on a sci-fi comedy based on a non-playable video game character, who suddenly becomes self-aware. After realizing he is in a video game, he tries to turn into a hero, while teaming up with the developers to save the game from shutting down. Reynolds said:
It’s wish-fulfillment personified, and you don’t see a lot of that these days. You see heroes clenching their jaw muscles and squinting for no reason and, you know, saying heroic stuff. But I like vulnerability.”
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld isn’t hopeful
Even though Ryan Reynolds was giving positive updates about Deadpool 3, the creator of the character was not as hopeful. He said last May that Marvel is not interested in Deadpool 3. More recently, he even said that he had made peace with the fact that the third installment of the franchise will likely not happen, saying:
“You know what? There may not be another Deadpool, and I’m fine. Because I have to live with the fact that I had two amazing experiences, two movies I’m extremely proud of, I love knowing everybody on those movies.”
He also loved working with Ryan Reynolds on those two films. Deadpool 3 looks unlikely as of right now, as the silence from Marvel and Disney doesn’t look good either. But, fans are hoping against hope that somehow, Wade Wilson pulls off a miracle for a few more appearances on the silver screen.
