YouTube sensation PewDiePie (Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg) recently paid tribute to late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The recent suicide of Sushant shook the Bollywood industry, but the story reached all over the world. Many found Sushant’s story to be inspirational and his death to be a tragic one. Similarly, PewDiePie got curious about Sushant Singh Rajput and he ended up finding his life philosophy quite relatable.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s life paralleled PewDiePie in significant ways

PewDiePie shared that Sushant Singh Rajput was very smart. Before he pursued acting as a proper career, Sushant was on his way to becoming an engineer. PewDiePie was also in college doing an engineering degree before he decided to become a YouTuber. That’s what surprised PewDiePie as well.

But the thing that resonated most with the Swedish YouTuber was Sushant’s life philosophy. We got to hear Sushant Singh Rajput’s logic and way of living in a speech he did for a university.

In the speech, Sushant shared that he was always focused on happiness being success plus fame. But whenever he achieved those things, he got tired of them really fast and they didn’t make him excited anymore. The things that brought him true joy was doing something he loved: acting. Hence, Sushant Singh Rajput realized happiness lies in the now, focusing on what you’re doing and not having your happiness rely on the future:

I was all these years just I was obsessed about what’s going to happen. We are taught in schools but if this happens I’ll do that and uh six months from now I’ll be here. So I wanted to be in control I was so obsessed about my future oh my gosh taking the entire responsibility about the past but all I was doing was frequently swinging from past to future.

PewDiePie agreed with this sentiment:

now he was always looking for the next thing and that’s the problem with money and fame like you will never have enough of it it’s something that you can chase forever but there will never be enough.

But ultimately, Sushant found something he loved. That was being an actor. PewDiePie also found his love for making YouTube videos and went to become the most popular YouTuber in the platform.

The importance of living in the present

A message that has been told by motivational speakers many times. But the way Sushant Singh Rajput shares his personal story and adds this message makes it all the more beautiful. Sushant realized that what he was taught would bring him happiness isn’t what would make him happy. He learned the lessons painfully.

PewDiePie also agrees to live in the now:

I think it’s the illusion of control which is what he said you want to think that you have control over your future when in reality it doesn’t matter. Happiness comes from the moment and personally as well the more I find myself in the moment the better I’m doing it as a person. I really really strongly believe that uh we always have this dream that we want to chase ‘oh if I do this then I’ll be happy’. ‘oh if I reach this goal then I’ll be happy’. What about now? Anyone, no matter who you are, should be able to be happy in the moment. That’s the goal of life. That’s what we should try and aim for.

Moreover, PewDiePie also stated that we should focus on living in the moment and finding happiness in it. The YouTuber believes life is never going to be perfect so we might as well be grateful for the things we do have as opposed to always feeling incomplete.

In the wise words of Sushant Singh Rajput:

I understood the true meaning of success which was not money plus recognition but it was now plus excitement.

PewDiePie ends the video saying that he would love to meet Sushant Singh Rajput:

“Rest In Peace Sushant. I would have loved to meet you..You seem like an awesome dude but I’m really glad that you were you. Thank you for being you.”

Sushant Singh Rajput’s last movie, ‘Dil Bechara’, recently released. The movie was based on ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ novel by John Green.
