Deadpool Creator Thinks There Won’t Be A Third Movie
We’ve been waiting for a third Deadpool movie for quite some time. Who doesn’t want to see Ryan Reynolds in spandex, trying to beat bad guys while fighting a mid-life crisis? But, it looks like the creator of Deadpool has some harrowing news for us.
First featured in X-Men: Origins with his mouth sewn shut, Deadpool, especially Ryan Reynolds, had to work very hard to bring his character to fame. And that he did, with the R-rated film being a massive hit, earning $800 million with just a $58 million budget. Moreover, the second film was a success too. And things were going great for Rob Liefeld, the creator of the character. But, it looks like he thinks Deadpool has hit the end of the road.
Deadpool 3 is not happening
In an interview with Collider, Rob Liefeld, the creator of Deadpool, says that Disney may never make another movie. Even though the character has a lot of potential for a franchise with X-Force, it looks like Disney just has too much on its plate right now. But, Liefeld says he has made peace with this decision, as he loved working in the first two Deadpool films. He said:
You know what? There may not be another Deadpool, and I’m fine. Because I have to live with the fact that I had two amazing experiences, two movies I’m extremely proud of, I love knowing everybody on those movies. I love Ryan [Reynolds], Josh [Brolin], Zazie [Beets], David [Leitch], Tim Miller. All of them. The work they did was fantabulous, those movies are here to stand the test of time. You know, but in the world we live in, nothing is guaranteed. And it takes a lot to make movies. And post-quarantine, it’s weird.
Now, there’s no doubt that Liefeld is very proud of both his character and Ryan Reynolds, who played Deadpool to perfection. That’s why he is so passionate about this franchise and is very outspoken about it, much like his own creation. Even back in May, Liefeld was unsure of Deadpool 3, saying that Disney is just not interested anymore. But, this is in stark contrast to what Reynolds has been saying about the franchise since December. So, who should we believe? Well, regardless, the first two Deadpool movies will remain in our memories for a long time. But a third one will be the perfect icing on top of a cake.
