Game of Thrones Night King Actor Wanted White Walkers To Win
The ending of Game of Thrones will always be up for discussion, for all the wrong reasons. This time, we got to know what the Night King himself had to say about the finale of the show. As it turns out, he had a much more gruesome fate in mind for the people of Westeros.
The Night King actor wanted to kill everyone
Richard Brake, the actor who played the Night King in Game of Thrones, relished the chance to play the main antagonist of the show for so many seasons. However, he was recast after season 6 due to a scheduling conflict. Nevertheless, he did enjoy the ending of the show, but had something else in mind for the Night King, as he told NME:
I wanted him to wipe everyone out, I was hoping for that. But you can’t always get what you want.
However, Brake still enjoyed the fact that it was Arya who pushed the dagger inside the Night King. As a result, she became Azor Ahai, the mythical hero from the Game of Thrones Universe:
But I love the fact that Arya killed him. That was to me one of the highlights of that season.
Brake was also mesmerized by how Arya developed throughout the length of Game of Thrones:
And for the whole series, the way they developed her character from this little girl who watches her father get murdered, into this incredible assassin, who saves the world. To me that was the most genius thing of the whole series.
His thought’s on Game of Thrones finale
Even though there have been countless analyses over the Game of Thrones finale, Richard Brake believes that there was going to be backlash no matter what David Benioff and DB Weiss would have done with the show. He said:
I felt before this season that there would always be a backlash. People are always sad when something comes to an end… Especially Game of Thrones, everyone had their ideas on how it was going to end, with all the theories banging about for the couple of years it took to make that final season. I sensed there would be a portion of people who would be disappointed no matter what they did, but I honestly thought it was great.
That’s one way to think about it. However, a lot of Game of Thrones fans who had read the books believed the Showrunners could have done better. But, what’s done is done. All we have to look forward to is the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon. And Brake has Arthur & Merlin: Knights of Camelot to look forward to. It’s a new fantasy epic out this week, as Brake said:
I didn’t even have the time, but I probably wouldn’t have because it would have filled my head with greater anxiety about playing such an iconic character. There have been some wonderful actors who have played Merlin over the years.
