Sia Stopped Maddie Ziegler From Getting On A Plane With Harvey Weinstein!
You can call Sia pretty much a bodyguard of Maddie Ziegler. She admitted that in an interview with The Zang Show. She described her relationship with Ziegler, who has been a child star sensation since starring in Sia’s “Chandelier” music video in 2014. However, due to her, Sia is very protective of Maddie. So much so that she even saved her once from getting on a plane with Harvey Weinstein!
Sia – the protector of Ziegler
Throughout the years that the two have worked together, Sia has seen herself as a mentor, friend, and parent to the young one. She said:
As soon as I met Maddie, I felt extreme desire to protect her and I think that it was part of my own healing. I felt just extreme compulsion to protect her and yet the irony is that I didn’t want to be famous and I threw this child into the spotlight and she would say to me, ‘Don’t be silly—I was already famous and I wanted to be famous.’
But, Sia is very concerned about Ziegler and told her:
‘And you know it can stop at any time right? If you want it to stop, I can make it stop. You can just go back to being a normal person again.’
But, Sia said that Maddie Ziegler is adamant on her career choice, saying that:
She said, ‘No, I just love performing. I love dancing and I love acting so much,’ and so I thought how’s a good way I can keep her safe is just keep making projects for her and therefore most of the time we’re working together.
But, mentoring Maddie Ziegler is one part of Sia’s relationship with her. She has also protected her throughout this time. And once, she needed protection from none other than the convicted rapist and abuser, Harvey Weinstein.
How she protected her from Harvey Weinstein
So, this one time is the perfect example of how Sia is a protector of Maddie Ziegler. She prevented her from getting on a plane with Weinstein, as she recalls:
I kept her off a plane that Harvey Weinstein tried to get her on… When he invited her, I told (Maddie’s mom) Melissa, I just said, ‘Please don’t, do not do that, do not do that, do not do that.’
‘Music’Moreover, Sia considers these moments one of those times when her insight of the industry really helped Ziegler.
I know that there’s been times where my insight has really made a difference, like has kept her safe.
Despite that, Sia feels guilt over throwing Ziegler into the spotlight at such a young age, as she said:
I had no idea ‘Chandelier’ was going to be so massive. I just had no idea then she would blow and be this famous little teenager. But I’ve taken responsibility for it in as much as that I provide her security…That’s the most I can do really and that I’m always here for if she wants to cry or has a bad day or has questions about life—that’s what I’m here for.
We have to say that protecting Maddie Ziegler from the clutches of Harvey Weinstein is a deed that alone saved Ziegler’s life. The disgraced Hollywood mogul is currently serving a 23-year sentence in prison as he was found guilty of third-degree rape and first-degree criminal sexual act in February of 2020.
