Margot Robbie Joining Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean
In order to give a new spin to the Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney is developing a female-fronted film with Margot Robbie. She will be teaming up with Birds of Prey writer, Christina Hodson.
Originally, Pirates of the Caribbean is based on Disney’s theme park attraction.
So far, there have been five parts of this Disney film. Since the first film, Pirates of the Caribbean has been loved by children and adults. At the heart of the story is Captain Jack Sparrow into troubles and goes on adventures with the help of his friends. Played by Johnny Depp, he based the character on the Rolling Stones’ guitarist, Keith Richard. While the first five parts have grossed almost $5 billion, the sixth part is under-production. Apart from this, Disney is also planning a spin-off with Margot Robbie.
In collaboration with writer Christina Hodson, Margot Robbie will play a pirate in the spin-off.
While the sixth film of the original Pirates franchise is developed by Craig Mazin, this one is independent of that. Previously, Mazin was behind the super-hit miniseries, Chernobyl. Margot Robbie will play the lead while Christina Hodson, writer of Birds of Prey is also attached to this Disney project. Although the details about the story and production are still not revealed, the film will be female-oriented. There is no connection with Margot Robbie’s character and Captain Jack Sparrow. Previously, she has been a part of the Suicide Squad franchise, based on DC Comics supervillains. Meanwhile, Birds of Prey writer is also responsible for films like The Flash, Bumblebee, Unforgettable, and Shut In.
Since details of the spin-off are not known, it is hard to say what her character might look like. Will Margot Robbie go crazy with using the black eyeliner or not? Whether she will be dressing up like Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow or not, only time will tell.
