Sci-Fi Film Casts First AI Robot As Their Lead!
With each passing year, Hollywood is using more and more technology in its films. But, it looks like this particular Sci-Fi film is taking tech a bit more seriously than others. So much so that this new sci-fi film is going to cast an AI robot as its lead role!
Robots are taking over the silver screen as well
Normally, you’d hear about this kind of stuff in the movies. But, it’s happening in our real world! The name of the $70 million science fiction film is b and Erica is the AI Robot that will play the lead role. BondIt Capital Media will finance the film, and their previous projects include movies like To The Bone and Loving Vincent. Moreover, Happy-Moon Productions and Ten Ten Global Media will support BondIt in production.
If b follows through, then it will be the first film in human history with an artificially intelligent actor. And using robots will prove to be exceptionally beneficial in a time when COVID-19 has ravaged the world. This is because the crew will not have to worry about the health of their lead actor.
Sam Khoze, Tarek Zohdy, and Eric Pham are the masterminds behind b. The premise of the film follows a scientist who clashes with a program that he created, which wants to refine human DNA. To counter that program, scientists help design and build Erica and help her escape those who are after her.
However, the people to bring Erica to life in our world were Japanese scientists Hiroshi Ishiguro and Kohei Ogawa. They are expert robotics who shaped Erica’s patterns and interactions. Here’s Sam Khoze’s experience of working with the AI Robot:
In other methods of acting, actors involve their own life experiences in the role. But Erica has no life experiences. She was created from scratch to play the role. We had to simulate her motions and emotions through one-on-one sessions, such as controlling the speed of her movements, talking through her feelings and coaching character development and body language.
This isn’t Erica’s first acting job offer
Amid this global pandemic and economic crunch, Erica the AI Robot did not have a shortage of job opportunities. She was set to feature in American History X director Tony Kane’s film. However, a deal couldn’t be agreed upon and Erica’s debut was slightly delayed. For now, the movie has no director, and co-stars are yet to be hired or announced. And the film is expected to be filmed in the summer of 2021 in Europe!
