Cardi B (real name Belcalis Almanza) looked dressed to impress in a white blouse and nude skirt as she left the New York precinct in elated spirits. She was recently arrested and released on Monday, the 1st of October. She voluntarily turned herself in to concerned authorities regarding an incident that occurred earlier in August.
The Fight That Started It All
On the 29th of August 2018, Cardi B got into a fight with two female bartenders at the ‘Angels Gentlemen’s Club’ in Queens, New York. TMZ reported that the 25-year-old was at the club because her fiancé was performing that night. As the night progressed, Cardi B came face to face with bartender sisters Baddie Gi and Jade, who were then allegedly attacked by friends of Cardi B. It was revealed that Jade had supposedly slept with her baby daddy (Offset, from the band Migos) and that motivated the face-off.
A source close to Cardi B has reported that the attack was not premeditated but rather ‘spontaneous’ and ‘triggered after sometime threw a drink at her’. Police officials arrived at the club at 3am after things got progressively worse. Cardi B and nine others from her posse were suspected of “a reckless endangerment act” that involved throwing ‘bottles, chairs and hookahs at the bartenders’, the NYPD said. Both female bartenders were injured as several bottles broke and shattered on the floor resulting in one bartender’s foot getting cut and other minor injuries.
Charges That Might Be Made Against Cardi B
According to TMZ Cardi B faces charges that include, ‘two counts of second-degree reckless endangerment and one count of third-degree assault’, according to Sergeant Brendan Ryan, a spokesman for the New York Police Department. All three of which are considered misdemeanors in New York.
On the 1st of October, Cardi B was accompanied by her lawyer and nine other suspects, who turned themselves over to authorities at 10am EDT, NYPD officials said. Upon arrival, Cardi B was placed under arrest, taken to a holding cell, processed and then released. “Miss Almanzar (Cardi B) was very compliant during her arrest process and answered all questions,” Ryan said.
She is scheduled to appear in Queens criminal court on October 29. “We are aware of no evidence that she caused anybody any harm from that night,” her lawyer, Jeff Kern, told reporters. “We expect the matter to be resolved expeditiously.”
Future Appearance in Court
The twenty-five year old musician will be formally charged on her 29th October court appearance. A spokesperson for the Queens District Attorney’s office has said that ‘changes to the charges could be made then’.
A History Of Outbursts
Cardi B has recently been in the limelight for her very public outbursts. The 29th August bar fight occurred just three weeks after her very aggressive altercation with Nicki Minaj at the New York Fashion Week party which left Cardi B with an injury to her head. If this is a pattern she tends to keep following in the future, it might become a growing concern for her fans and loved-ones and may potentially harm her lucrative career.
