Kardashian-Jenners: What It’s Really Like Designing Their Homes
It’s no secret that the Kardashian-Jenner mansions are super swoon worthy. I’m sure everyone would admit to dreaming about living in their luxurious mansions. Where you’d have huge movie theaters and what not.
However, now we have an insight on what it’s really like to design one of these luxurious mansions for the Kardashian-Jenners.
Celebrity interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard opened up about his experiences in an exclusive interview with Daily Mail. He revealed how he came to be the go-to interior designer expert for the Kardashian-Jenners. And also how different all their tastes are when it comes to lavish homes.
“They are incredibly warm people and once you’re in their life, you’re in their life and they’re very loyal and they become friends,” Martyn said in the interview about the Kardashian-Jenners. “They are also very passionate about design.”
Martyn has worked with celebrities like Cher, Cindy Crawford, Sharon Osbourne etc. However, he first became acquainted with Kris Jenner 10 years ago when he did some work for a friend of hers. They met and became friends.
And one day, Kris calls him and asks him if he can come take a look at her house.
“And so I went over, but at the time I was filming my TV show, Million Dollar Decorators on Bravo, and obviously the Kardashians film with E!. I couldn’t work for Kris and be on camera because I was still under contract with Bravo,” Martyn revealed.
Nonetheless, Martyn stayed close to the Kardashian-Jenners. So close that he ended up being invited to the annual Christmas Eve Party. And that’s where he met Kourtney Kardashian.
How Martyn Became The Go-To For Kardashian-Jenners
“Her first house she did was very young and quite wild in a way, but she has matured into a really interesting lady, who really is passionate about design and really studies it,” Martyn shared about Kourtney. “And so, this house was the first real home for her that she was turning into an adult environment.”
However, in the midst of that, Khloe purchased a home for herself and requested his services as well. Martyn revealed that although his work load doubled, he enjoyed the experience as they both had different designs in mind.
After Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, Martyn moved on to design Kris’ nest. She wanted her home to be inviting and homey for the whole family. Then Martyn worked with supermodel, Kendall Jenner who wanted extraordinary pieces that represented her tomboy side. And lastly, designing Kylie Jenner’s house while she was pregnant was fun for Martyn as he got to make the house ready to welcome a child.
“These are all very smart, very sensible women, there’s no flighty, craziness going on there,” the interior designer said about the Kardashian-Jenners. “There’s always a price tag attached to things that you want made completely custom, but there’s always a budget and business managers that you go through.”
He has yet to do Kim Kardashian’s house as it is mostly ruled by husband, Kanye West.
