What a time, would I still look good in the limo?

When Ed Westwick posted a Gossip Girl related picture, fans thought it might be a reunion.

Few days ago, Chuck Bass himself posted the infamous ‘XOXO’ of Gossip Girl and wrote:

‘Got a little something for you…Tomorrow 1pm.. Hint….xoxo.’

Instantly, the fans of the show thought Ed Westwick might be referring to a digital reunion. It would have the first time since the cast members, Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, Penn Badgley, and Chase Crawford got together. However, it was suspicious that no other cast member had hinted at the reunion. Therefore, some suspected that it might be just Chuck Bass related news.

However, the very next day, hopes of the fans shattered when the truth was revealed.

The next day, Ed Westwick revealed the big news and announced the new line of face masks with the XOXO logo. In an Instagram post, he wrote:

I think we could all agree the world could use some hugs and kisses right now. Help me raise money for @kickitout to combat racism & discrimination for everyone who plays, watches or works in football by shopping my collection with @represent. Let’s all work together to make a difference.

This news made the fans of Gossip Girl furious and called him out for the tease. After he received major backlash for his post, Ed Westwick explained:

‘For those of you that are upset about teasing my collection with the design graphic to raise money for @KickItOut: I hope you can check out the charity and learn more about their mission, who they are helping and the impact it will make in our world to combat racism and discrimination. It is important to me to use my platform to spread love, bring awareness to various organisations and do what I can to make a difference. Love, Ed.’

Furthermore, he said:

‘While GG reboot would be a great distraction, this is not the time for distractions. It is important we focus on the issues at hand, and do what we can to help, even if we think it’s something small.’

Despite the disappointment, it is important to applaud his efforts to make a difference.
