After Sony released the first looks of its latest gaming console, PS5, the stage is now set to see which console will come out on top: Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5. Without any price reveals from both sides, the two have already gone under public scrutiny on social media as trolls and memes trended on Twitter and Reddit solely on their looks. However, most of the gaming community expect phenomenal upgrades to the gaming experience from both sides. Now that the competition is on, people are trying to find out which console will outsell the other.

Is PS5 Going To Outsell Xbox Or Not?

An analytics firm predicts whether PS5 will outsell Xbox Series X or not. They are taking help from the trends seen during PS4. Apparently, the previous Sony console outsole Xbox One throughout the entire console generation. The firm predicts that this trend will continue with PlayStation 5 as well.

Ampere Analysis predicts that PS5 will sell 4.6 million units by the end of 2020. On the other hand, Xbox will only be able to sell 3.3 million. This gap will then rise exponentially by the end of 2024. By then, PS5 looks set to have sold 66 million units as compared to 37 million by Xbox.

However, the firm also adds key points that will give Microsoft a competitive edge over Sony. Through Xbox Game Pass and better messaging to consumers, there will be a competitive factor, which was not present in the previous console versions. Moreover, Halo Infinite will launch on the same day as the Microsoft console, which is happening for the first time since 2001. This should also give a tough competition to PS5.

However, the report reiterates that Sony will remain in a stronger position with its PS5 just because those were the trends with PS4 as well. PlayStation 4 has sold around double times more units than Xbox One as of this year 2020.
