Because of quarantine, actors are doing some really crazy stuff. This time, a list of high-profile actors, which include Sarah Paulson, Julianne Moore, Stanley Tucci, Aaron Paul, Kristen Bell, and others decided to make an anti-racism PSA. However, social media didn’t take that video well. This is because they’re deeming it to be too cringe-worthy.

Celebrities’ anti-racism PSA is cringe

On Thursday, June 11th, the anti-racism PSA video was released on YouTube and on Twitter by Julianne Moore. It was titled “I Take Responsibility” and it came in the aftermath of the Black Lives Matter Movement. And as we all know, that was because of the incident of police brutality in the murder of George Floyd.

In the anti-racism PSA, celebrities promised to hold themselves accountable for “every unchecked moment”, “every not-so-funny joke”, “every unfair stereotype”, and other injustices. The two-minute clip included Sarah Paulson, Justin Theroux, Debra Messing, Aaron Paul, Stanley Tucci, Kesha, Kristen Bell, and Julianne Moore. Here’s the video:

However, when social media saw the anti-racism PSA, they simply cringed. They were cringed at the tone of the video and some even criticized the message. A Senior Editor at The Daily Beast, Marlow Stern tweeted, “regret to inform you the celebs are at it again”. Other than that, there were some other comments like, “What are they auditioning for”, and “they’ve been out of work for a few months and need to *ACT*”. One user even said, “Oh my gosh racism is over thank you, actors”. Here are the tweets:

In short, Twitter was brutal on the anti-racism PSA.

And if you think that wasn’t enough, even Ricky Gervais joined the bandwagon. He said that there was a “Terrible lack of diversity in this video”:

This anti-racism PSA was basically ripped into shreds. However, this isn’t the first time that celebrities have been criticized for their tribute videos.

When Gal Gadot, Sarah Paulson (again) and co. sang the cringest cover of “Imagine”

There was another video by Gal Gadot when she and many high-profile actors sang a cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine”. Funnily enough, that video also had Sarah Paulson in it. Even Piers Morgan called them all “Cov-idiots” for singing that cover. So, this is the second time she is taking stick from the public. Last time it was for a song cover, this time it was for an anti-racism PSA. We hope this was the last time she shares such cringe content. She’s on her second strike, after all.
