Jeff Bezos Is Happy To Lose Racist Customers

0 400

We all know how much effort it took Jeff Bezos to become the richest man in the world. And it’s impossible to imagine that he got there by saying no to any customers. However, he just revealed that there are a few customers that he is happy to lose – the racist ones who do not support the Black Lives Matter Movement.

Jeff Bezos shows us some of his racist emails

Being the CEO of one of the largest tech companies in the world means that Bezos receives a lot of emails. However, after voicing his support for Black Lives Matter on Amazon’s website, Bezos received a lot of racist emails. But, that wasn’t the end of it.

A couple of days later, Bezos shared another email on Instagram from a person named Dave. Of course, Bezos did him a favor by blurring out the rest of his name and ID from the Screenshot. But, the language was far more graphic than before, with the usage of the n-word as well. In the caption, Jeff Bezos wrote that he’s absolutely happy to lose racist customers:

There have been a number of sickening but not surprising responses in my inbox since my last post. This sort of hate shouldn’t be allowed to hide in the shadows. It’s important to make it visible. This is just one example of the problem.

And, Dave, you’re the kind of customer I’m happy to lose.

Later on, Jeff Bezos voiced his support for Black Lives Matter with a powerful statement, part of which said:

Black Lives Matter doesn’t mean other lives don’t matter. Black Lives Matter speaks to racism and the disproportionate risk that black people face in our law enforcement and justice system. I have a 20-year-old son, and I simply don’t worry that he might be choked to death while being detained one day. It’s not something I worry about. Black parents can’t say the same.

Bezos must look at his own company too

It’s nice to see that Jeff Bezos raises his voice prominently against the racism in America. However, he should try to bring more systemic change in Amazon as it’s CEO. Moreover, he should also invest more in his employees’ safety, health, and protection from COVID-19 and their labor rights in general.

Recently, Bezos has been involved in a lot of controversies, such as asking for donations for COVID-19. Moreover, recently he fired an employee who demanded for better working conditions and went public with his protest. I’m sure the Amazon CEO shared the Black Lives Matter message from the bottom of his heart, but his employees need more of his positive attention too.
