Terry Crews’ Black Supremacy Tweet Backfires But Intentions Were Good?
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Terry Crews might have wanted to say something else when he spoke about Black Supremacy but it turned out a different way. He was criticized for saying that the opposite of white supremacy could result from the Black Live Matter movement if the protestors don’t include white. The timing for this tweet could not have been any worse as the United States enters its third week of protest following the tragic murder of George Floyd. Now, parts of Europe and the UK have joined in on the protest as well, rioting in their respective lands in front of the US embassies.
What Did Terry Crews Say?
Terry Crews had a whole of defending to do after posting his tweet. Here is what he had to say:
“Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy. Equality is the truth. Like it or not, we are all in this together.”

Like it or not, we are all in this together.

Soon, he had to face backlash over this tweet. People called him out to explain what he meant by black supremacy when it never existed in the first place. Here is a calm reply from Tyler James Williams who tried to explain to him his thoughts:
Terry, brother, I know your heart and you know I have love for you and always will.
No one is calling 4 black supremacy & the narrative that we are hurts our cause & our people. We’re just vigorously vetting our “allies” because time & time again they have failed us in the past https://t.co/d5BDTTATd9

Williams tried to explain that while people try to claim that they are not racist, they benefit exactly from the white supremacy in the subtle ways because the system is racist. He clarified that while this process cannot complete on its own, the allies who will not go all the way are not needed.
I’m not trying to call you out @terrycrews. You know it’s all love always ❤️. But we’re rightfully angry right now and fed up with anyone not with our cause wholeheartedly.
I don’t want to see that energy pointed your way or diverted from the cause.

However, Terry Crews decided to defend what he tweeted and clarified his stance as well:
“I understand, Tyler. I was not saying Black supermacy exists, because it doesn’t. I am saying if both Black and Whites don’t continue to work together– bad attitudes and resentments can create a dangerous self-righteousness. That’s all.”

Do you think Terry crews deserve backlash over his tweets regarding white and black supremacy?
In the end, he had to post a final tweet to clear the air against the people of color:
I believe it is important we not suffer from groupthink, and we keep minds of our own, and be allowed to ask difficult questions to each other. I believe this dialogue is important as we get through this trauma together. I love you.
