Gabrielle Union Files For Discrimination Against AGT and Simon Cowell
This past Thursday, Gabrielle Union has taken her next step in a feud against America’s Got Talen (AGT) involving workplace racial abuse. She has filed for discrimination against Simon Cowell and the talent show in California’s DFEEH. She alleges that she was harassed and discriminated against and had to retaliate while working as a judge on season 14 in 2019. The complaints to the DFEH are usually precursors to the lawsuits, you people should know. The people she has blamed included NBC Universal Television, Fremantle Productions North America, Simon Cowell, and his company Syco Entertainment.
Gabrielle Union Retaliates After AGT Statement
Gabrielle Union’s statement comes after NBC and AGT released the results of their investigation, stating that her claims had no bearings. Back then an excerpt of the statement read:
“Through the investigation process, it has been revealed that no one associated with the show made any insensitive or derogatory remarks about Ms. Union’s appearance.”
However, Gabriell Union continues to uphold her allegations against the talent hunting show and the judge. An excerpt of her statement over discrimination read:
“Union, a black woman, was singled out due to her physical appearance and discriminated against by NBC due to the fact that her hair did not fit within the white image that NBC apparently sought to convey to the audience of AGT.”
Gabrielle Union exited the show last fall, with Julianne Hough following her in support. One incident she explained in detail was how guest judge Jay Leno made racist jokes and that the workplace was toxic. However, AGT was quick to recover from this as they called back Heidi Klum in the judge’s panel. They also called Sofia Vergara, the two will be started AGT 2020 this year. they also hired private investigators to cover these incidents.
The investigation did also mention that “some areas in which reporting processes could be improved.”
