Robert Pattinson Admits To Not Knowing What Tenet Was About During Filming
Just like the rest of the world, Robert Pattinson also finds it hard to understand Christopher Nolan’s films. In Nolan’s latest film, Tenet, the Twilight star plays an essential role. However, he had to rely on his co-star to really grasp the script.

Repost from @esquire: “In my first conversation with him, he just felt like somebody on the cusp of really great things,” says Christopher Nolan of his ‘Tenet’ star, @JohnDavidWashington. “And so from a selfish point of view as a filmmaker, you immediately think, I’d like to be a part of that actor’s journey. I’d like to harness that energy that he has.” See three exclusive images from the set of ‘Tenet’ above. The film hits theaters July 17.
It would not be wrong to say that Christopher Nolan’s Tenet is going to be a mind-bending experience.
After 2017’s Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan is all set to release his new film, Tenet. While the trailer is not that easy to understand, we do know that Nolan will once again try to twist and turn time. According to the premise of the film, a secret agent is hired to prevent World War III. However, we know better than thinking it would be that simple. Directed and written by Christopher Nolan himself, the cast includes some of the most popular actors of the world. Apart from Robert Pattinson and John David Washington, the cast includes Kenneth Branagh, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Dimple Kapadia. Tenet is all set to release on 17th July this year.
In an interview, Robert Pattinson admitted that he did not fully understand Nolan’s film.
While Robert Pattinson has starred in many incredible films, he had a hard time grasping the premises of Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. He admits that John David Washington had to come to the rescue throughout the shooting. While talking about it, Robert Pattinson said:
“It’s an incredibly complicated movie, like all of Chris’s movies. I mean, you have to watch them when they’re completely finished and edited three or four times to understand what the true meaning is.”
Furthermore, he said:
“When you’re doing them, I mean, there were months at a time where I’m like, ‘Am I . . . I actually, honestly, have no idea if I’m even vaguely understanding what’s happening.’ And yeah, I would definitely say that to John.”
While continuing his story, Robert Pattinson said:
“On the last day, I asked him a question about what was happening in a scene, and it was just so profoundly the wrong take on the character. And it was like, ‘Have you been thinking this the entire time?’ There’s definitely a bond in the end in kind of hiding the fact that maybe neither one of us knew exactly what was going on. But then I thought, ‘Ah, but John David actually did know. He had to know what was going on.'”
Although we are sure we will also have a hard time understanding it, we cannot wait to see how Nolan manipulates time in Tenet.
