Time’s up Rally Up To Support Survivor of Brett Kavanaugh’s Sexual Assault
Recently, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford accused the Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault. But ever since she came out into the open with her claims, things have not been very favorable for her. In fact, President Donald Trump himself intervened in the whole situation claiming that Ford should have launched her accusations before. And all this, led to several more feminist hashtags and movements circulating throughout the country. Like #BelieveWomen and #WhyIDidntReport. Numerous celebrities like Alyssa Milano have spoken up for Dr Blasey Ford as well. Most importantly, Time’s Up has expressed its solitude with Ford. And that’s not just restricted to the national walkout they announced.
Time’s Up Supports Sexual Assault Survivor
Time’s Up has announced a national walkout to show it’s support for the sexual assault survivor Christine Blasey Ford against Brett Kavanaugh. While posting this on Twitter, it claimed that survivors must be heard. The national walkout in solidarity against Brett Kavanaugh was supposed to be held on Monday, 24th September. All participants were requested to wear black. Advocacy groups were encouraged to use the hashtag #BelieveSurvivors when posting anything related on social media. The event was shared by the #MeToo founder, Tarana Burke and had more than 20,000 people participating in it.
Not only the walkout, but Time’s Up has also made extended efforts to stand up for Dr. Ford against Brett Kavanaugh. It also issued a statement urging the US senate to postpone the votes on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh up until the case launched by Dr. Ford was thoroughly investigated.
Time’s Up started the statement by saying that the era when business continued normally despite sexual assault allegations was over forever. And that there should be no nomination of Brett Kavanaugh as the next U.S. Supreme Court Justice till the credible allegations were investigated. Time’s Up demanded that the votes on his nomination should be closed until the examination results came out. It further said that if chosen for the designation in the Supreme Court, Brett Kavanaugh would have a lot of power over the lives of working women in the future. And such a decision should not be rushed without looking into critical issues. Lastly, Time’s Up requested them to listen to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. And concluded the statement saying that a woman’s experience should never be valued any less than a man’s career.
The Time’s Up is still going strong as ever to stand up for women, especially sexual assault survivors.
