Deadpool 3 Isn’t In Marvel’s Plan, Says Creator Rob Liefeld
As Deadpool said, "Life is an endless series of train wrecks..."
Anyone with a sense of humor loved the Deadpool films more than any other X-Men or MCU films. But, it looks like we have bad news for this franchise. Rob Liefeld believes that Marvel Studios is no longer interested in a Deadpool 3. Here’s what he said!
Rob Liefeld opens up about Deadpool 3
Ever since Disney bought Fox last year, people were wondering about the future of Deadpool/X-Force under the MCU. After Deadpool’s creator Rob Liefeld’s interview with Inverse, it looks like the future is bleak. He said:
I don’t know. Here’s what people don’t want to hear, but thank God I’m a realist. I feel like Deadpool, the movies, they’ve set sail. We got two brilliant movies, and we live in a culture that always looks forward because all they’re ever selling us is ‘next, next, next.’ It’s the fever.
These aren’t encouraging words for the much anticipated Deadpool 3. He later mentioned that he wasn’t really a big fan of Marvel Studio’s plan for Deadpool and the MCU:
For me, as the fever calms down, people just need to calm down and realize that Deadpool 1 and 2 were released within two years of each other, 2016 and 2018, and I just can’t… I’m not really that crazy about Marvel’s plan right now.
But, his most conclusive remarks for the franchise were:
Know what their plan for Deadpool is right now? Goose egg. Zero. Zero!
I guess that’s pretty much the final nail in the coffin for Deadpool 3. He said there might be a chance of the third part coming out in the next 4 years, but he’s not interested in that. But, this is in direct contrast to what Ryan Reynolds was saying about the film.
Ryan Reynolds was very hopeful for Deadpool 3
Earlier, we’ve reported how Ryan Reynolds was actually very hopeful for the third installment of his favorite superhero. He said:
Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe.
Moreover, he was very excited about Deadpool because they were working with “the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kind of crazy.” But with Leifeld’s words, it seems like Deadpool 3 is pretty much dead. It’s sad to see that because all of us were excited to see him team up with other MCU heroes, such as Spiderman. How crazy that would have been, right? But I guess some dreams remain dreams.
