It seems like we’re finally getting the first bit of good news in the Coronavirus pandemic! After months of seeing Hollywood productions on a pause, it seems like some productions are coming back to life. Namely, the Lord of the Rings series and the Avatar 2 is back underway, thanks to New Zealand’s lockdown ease!

Lord of the Rings will soon be back on track, thanks to New Zealand

After the easing of the lockdown, the New Zealand Film Commission has given us good news too. Their health and safety protocols have been accepted by the government. However, for the fans, what this really means is that the Lord of the Rings Series will soon be back, along with the Avatar sequel!

In fact, the commission has confirmed that some Tv shoots “are already safely underway”. This shows the massive progress that New Zealand has made since the lockdown went into effect in March. The Commission said:

The NZFC’s focus and commitment since the industry hiatus, has been the health and safety of all those who work in the New Zealand film industry and the ongoing sustainability of the wider screen sector. We are heartened and grateful for the hard work and partnership of the guilds who have worked to get this document completed so quickly.

Therefore, this means there’s good news as far as Amazon Prime’s Lord of the Rings Series is concerned. However, there’s more! And it has to do with Avatar 2.

Work on Avatar 2 continues

Apart from Lord of the Rings Series, we have news on Avatar 2 as well. As we reported back in March, the production of Avatar’s much-awaited sequel never stopped. In fact, we kept on getting regular updates from the director on Twitter. However, it seems like it was mostly limited to Visual Works with Weta Digital.

We hope to see James Cameroon’s Avatar 2, with the 17th of December 2020 as the release date. However, we don’t know much about the release date of Lord of the Rings Series. The Avatar’s producer Jon Landau said in his statement:

We’re doing our part to flatten the curve and encourage you to try to do the same. We will continue to share production updates with you. Stay safe and well.

Moreover, we got some latest updates as well from the official Twitter account of the shooting of some underwater scene. However, we’re not sure when these photos were taken.

Regardless, it is very nice to see that production has started to resume from where it left off. What’s important is that productions follow the strict guidelines and take care of their staff, because no one wants another outbreak! We hope we get to see Lord of the Rings TV series and Avatar sequel back soon.
