Jodie Comer In Line To Play Miss Honey In A New ‘Matilda’ Movie

My Mad Fat Diary actress Jodie comer is under scrutiny to camouflage into the character of Miss Honey in the upcoming Netflix musical Matilda (adapted from  Roald Dahl classic). According to The Daily Mail, Jodie Comer is expected to star in the film as Miss Honey. Fans, however, are surprised about the selection.

Fans are a bit surprised that Jodie Comer, who is known for her psychopathic Russian assassin character, Villanelle, from Killing Eve is under consideration for this sanguine character.

Matilda: The Musical’ on Netflix is, in fact, a Roald Dahl’s plot about the magical little girl. In the  1996 movie, Mara Wilson played the titular character while Rhea Perlman portrayed her mother and Pam Ferris as the vicious Trunchbull. Now, Academy Award-nominee, Ralph Fiennes, has signed to play the villainous headmistress. Moreover, the 90’s classic cast Emeth Davidtz as Miss Honey,

Miss Honey, The Kind Mentor

As a matter of fact, Miss Honey is Matilda’s generous teacher who knew that  Matilda possesses some secret powers. However, in this upcoming adaptation, Jodie Comer will play Miss Honey. According to Daily Mail, The producers primarily took  Emma Stone in the role. Later, they agreed to Jodie as the best pick.

The Upcoming Netflix Musical, Matilda

Although it seems that the ground is all set for Judie, yet her official entry will depend on her availability. The English actress has the fourth season of  Killing Eve in line. The movie, in fact, has planned its filming from August to December 2020. However, the shooting schedule may face some postponement due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic.

Matthew Warchus will direct Matilda. He has also directed the original stage production. Netflix and Working Title will co-produce the musical movie. Dennis Kelly penned the script. with  Tim Minchin, as expected give melody to his written notes.

Matilda, in fact, is a super-powered girl who uses her potentials positively,  to help those who are striving to deal with the villainous headmistress, Trunchbull.

Besides all the positive reviews, the 1996 movie doesn’t get much from the box office. However, Matilda the Musical is still on stage. The musical, in fact. ran on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre from 2013 to  2017.
