Florida Man Arrested For Camping on Walt Disney World Resort’s Property
McGuire was trying to make himself feel at home.
Walt Disney Parks are quite amazing and the beauty makes you want to stay there forever. In normal circumstances, you could stay there for hours and appreciate the view but the current Coronavirus situation is not the best time to exercise those wants. The lockdown, however, did not stop this Florida man from visiting and making himself feel at home at one of the parks/resorts. He is now facing trespassing charges. Moreover, he will not be allowed to visit any of Disney properties anymore.
Florida Man Arrested for Camping on Walt Disney’s Discovery Island amid Coronavirus pandemic
42-year-old Richard McGuire from Mobile, Alabama was arrested for the misdemeanor of trespassing and trying to turn Walt Disney Discovery Island into his campsite during COVID-19 lockdown. According to the arrest report, he wanted to camp there for a week and called the place a tropical paradise.
He had made entry to the island to go camping on Monday or Tuesday. He had planned on staying on the island for approximately one week.
Locating him was hard
Finding him was not an easy task though and all necessary resources were used to locate him. According to the Orange County Sherriff’s office, the officials went looking for him on foot, on a helicopter, and even on boats. Even when loudspeakers called his name out. But McGuire says he wasn’t able to hear anything.
Once he was located at the Walt Discovery Island, authorities took him into custody. All required legal actions were taken against him and the authorities have also banned him from entering Disney’s parks.
This is not the first arrest of its kind though. One more arrest has taken place in the last few weeks as well. This man was allegedly trying to steal from a Disneyland property where a Marvel-themed, Avengers Campus was constructing.
