Harrison Ford Turns Into The Real-Life Indiana Jones?
Everyone knows that Harrison Ford is a lot like the characters he plays in the movies. He has a bit of Indiana Jones, Han Solo, and Rick Deckard sparkled in him. But this time, he almost went full Indiana Jones. Ford was recently involved in an incident on the Los Angeles Hawthorne Airport runway! Doesn’t that remind you of Indy?
Harrison Ford goes full Indy on an actual runway
Ford just became a little too adventurous this time, on an actual runway. Although, it’s not nearly as exciting as him beating up actual Nazis right beside the propeller of a mythical WWII airplane.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating Ford for a small incident with his two-seat Aviat Husky light plane. Apparently, he crossed the runway with his small plane while another aircraft was landing. It doesn’t sound a lot, but the two planes were hardly 3,600 ft apart. It might sound like a huge distance, but in the world of aviation, it raises alarms.
The incident took place last Friday at the Los Angeles Hawthorne Airport and luckily there wasn’t any danger of a crash. However, the 77-year-old Harrison Ford has acknowledged his mistake and apologized to the FAA. In the Indiana Jones and Star Wars star statement, he said he “misheard” instruction from the air traffic control:
The purpose of the flight was to maintain currency and proficiency in the aircraft. No one was injured and there was never any danger of a collision.
Funnily enough, this wasn’t the only air accident Harrison Ford has been involved in!
He has crashed planes and helicopters before, literally!
It’s almost no secret that Harrison Ford is an aviation enthusiast. He got his license in his 50s, but since then has had a list of incidents on the runway and elsewhere. And yes, you can make a list of them. They’re that many!
- In 1999, his helicopter crash-landed in Los Angeles during a training flight while he was the pilot. Luckily, the instructor and Ford both were unhurt.
- Just a year later, he made an emergency landing in Nebraska on a plane he was flying. Again, Lady luck was with him.
- In 2015, he crash-landed his vintage plane on a golf course in Los Angeles. This time, Ford sustained minor injuries.
- In 2017, he flew very low over an American Airlines plane carrying 100 passengers and crew! No one was injured and the FAA didn’t take any action against him.
At this point, it’s honestly a miracle how Harrison Ford still has his pilot’s license. But one thing is for sure, whenever he’s in the cockpit, he’s no less than Indiana Jones himself!
