It would be an understatement to say that the Entertainment Industry is in shambles in the wake of COVID-19. We know how summer is the most important season for Hollywood. However, it looks like this summer, only streaming services will reign supreme. Production on various movies has been suspended until further notice, release dates are being changed, and so on. Among these movies are The Flash and Shazam! 2.
Coronavirus Defeats the DC Superheroes!
Well, isn’t it satisfying when Superheroes like Batman, Iron-Man, Thor, Superman, etc. find a way to overcome all odds? Unfortunately, they can’t do the same in the real world, thanks to COVID-19.
Ever since the launch of the DC Cinematic Universe in 2013, it has run into numerous roadblocks. Its massive projects such as Dawn of Justice and Justice League didn’t perform as per the expectations of fans. But it started looking like the Cinematic Universe in question was slowly getting back on track with releases like Aquaman and Shazam!
But then enter the Pandemic, and everything changed. The global shutdown of operations has even impacted some of DC’s highly anticipated projects including The Batman, Shazam! 2, and The Flash.
Shazam! 2 and The Flash get New Release Dates!
Just like Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson will now be releasing on October 1, 2021 (instead of June 25, 2021), numerous other DC projects will not be rolling to the theaters on their original release dates as well.
For starters, Shazam! 2 was initially planned for April 1, 2022. But, it has now been pushed to November 4, 2022.
Similarly, The Flash (which has been postponed several times now) will be arriving a month before its initial release date. So, you no longer have to wait for The Flash until July 1, 2022, because it will be in theaters from June 3, 2022.
What was your reaction to these changes? Are you up to date with the DC Cinematic Universe (DC Extended Universe)? If you are not, now is the perfect time to catch up!
