The coronavirus lockdown has everyone stuck at home. And let’s face it, no parent wants to be stuck with their children 24/7 for a month. After schools and daycare shut down, parents are having a hard time entertaining their children. However, the former First Lady Michelle Obama is here to rescue us! She will be reading stories to your children in no time.
Michelle Obama will read stories on live stream:
Michelle Obama has started an initiative called Mondays with Michelle Obama. She will be reading a classing children’s book every Monday at noon ET. The reading will be live-streamed simultaneously on PBS Kids’ Facebook page and YouTube channel. Moreover, Penguin Random House will also host the show. Michelle Obama released a statement in this regard:
As a little kid, I loved to read aloud. And when I became a parent, I found such joy in sharing the magic of storytelling with my own children — and then later, as First Lady, with kids everywhere. At this time when so many families are under so much stress, I’m excited to give kids a chance to practice their reading and hear some wonderful stories.
She will be reading The Gruffalo, There’s a Dragon in your Book, Miss Maple’s Seeds, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The show will begin from the next Monday, April 20.
How the lockdown is affecting parents & kids:
The coronavirus lockdown has affected millions of families. This pandemic will undoubtedly be remembered for decades to come. It is going to have unintended consequences for both parents and kids. The most important question in this regard is the future of the children’s education. Schools have shut down worldwide, and semesters have stopped mid-exams. Working-class parents have to deal with their children while attending Zoom meetings. Moreover, keeping kids “entertained” is becoming difficult by the day. Most parents are leaving children to their devices, which may lead to smartphone addiction. This overlooked issue needs much attention from people like Michelle Obama.
