Nothing beats a triumphant return and Fiona Apple has just proved that! After almost 8 years since the release of her last studio album (The Idler Wheel…), we finally have access to some new Fiona Apple music, courtesy of her brand new album. Going by the title “Fetch the Bolt Cutters”, this album is undoubtedly her best work to date!
Fetch the Bolt Cutters: A Masterpiece FIVE Years in the Making!
It goes without saying but the key to creating a studio album with more than one potential chartbuster is dedication. And almost all Fiona Apple songs reflect immense dedication. Every song of hers has a meaning, whether apparent or hidden.
So how could you expect “Fetch the Bolt Cutters” to be any different? The singer/songwriter started working on the album back in 2015. Her idea was to create an album whose songs, when played together, convey a big idea that you wouldn’t get if you listen to the tracks individually (concept album). After years of hard work, Apple released the album on April 17, 2020.
The aim of this Fiona Apple album was to be centered on her Venice Beach home (a place she seldom leaves). So, in a way or another, you can say that this album perfectly fits the narrative.
Speaking about this fine example of Fiona Apple music, the artist explained the main theme of “Fetch the Bolt Cutters”. According to her, standing up for one’s own self is the big idea behind the project. Additionally, she has also used this album to shed light on her complicated social connections with other females.
She roped in Sebastian Steinberg (bassist), David Garza (guitarist) and Amy Aileen Wood (drummer) to record this album.
Fetch the Bolt Cutters: Fiona Apple’s Best Work Yet!
To say that the album in question is receiving rave reviews would be an understatement. From Metacritic to The Guardian, Rolling Stone, and others, almost every critic is in love with the new album. Upon its release, Fetch the Bolt Cutters got a perfect score of 100/100 from Metacritic and 10/10 from Pitchfork.
It will surely be interesting to see how the album stands once the audience reviews start coming in. And if you are thinking that you have heard the album’s name before, “Fetch the Bolt Cutters” is a quote from The Fall (a TV series).
