However, from the three songs she dropped recently, Boyfriend also had a music video coming that Selena had been posting teasers about. And well, it’s finally here and we were surprised to find some Easter eggs in them. We know it was just Easter two days ago but Selena Gomez was never the girl to throw shade. I guess she’s learned a thing or two from her BFF, Taylor Swift. (Wait, are they still BFFs?)

Easter Eggs In Selena Gomez’s ‘Boyfriend’

Selena’s song ‘Boyfriend’ is about finding love in all the wrong places. Hitting dead ends, as she sings. The music video also shows her searching for that special someone. Wearing sunglasses at night, Selena Gomez can be seen driving down the road in a fast car. This scene shares shocking similarities to a scene from The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ music video. And people couldn’t help but draw comparisons.

The music video for ‘Boyfriend’ also features a frog. And as eagle eyed fans pointed out, The Weeknd’s song ‘Heartless’ also has a frog in the visual.

This isn’t the first time Selena Gomez has been speculated of singing about her former lover, The Weeknd. One of her other two newly released songs, ‘Souvenir’ also seemed to have lyrics nodding towards the singer’s 10 month relationship with The Weeknd.

“New York back in August/10th floor balcony,” Gomez sings on the track. “Smoke is floating over/Jane and Greenwich Street.”

Fans speculate that these lyrics are referencing the former couple’s time in New York City together back in the summer of 2017. She also reference the Sunset Tower in Los Angeles on her songs, another place she and The Weeknd were spotted together.

Now, maybe all these Easter eggs are all a big coincidence. Or maybe Selena Gomez is actually paying tribute to her relationship with The Weeknd. What do you think?
