Another pebble in the pond that creates the ripple of donations
His Dark Materials Costume Designers Producing scrubs for NHS Workers
The designers are not only crafting plastic face shields but also making scrubs for NHS staff. To create the face shields, the staff used 3D printers which have created alethiometer – the popular golden compass. Furthermore, the creative team has made or still making about 6,500 scrubs.
His Dark Materials Or Helping Dress Medics
Moreover, costume supervisor Dulcie Scott along with the team members who are currently working from home created a group and pick an alternative for the acronym HDM, (used for the show His Dark Materials), to Helping Dress Medics.
Costume designer Caroline McCall told BBC News how the idea strikes her mind. She was discussing their working plans during and after the pandemic season with the show’s costume supervisor Dulcie Scott
The Generous Idea
“When we realized there was a lack of PPE [personal protective equipment], and specifically scrubs, Dulcie contacted health professionals local to her to find out if and how we could help.”
As a matter of fact, His Dark Material’s Concept artist Michael van Kesteren has devised 50 personal protective equipment. The staff at Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales are using the equipment. Good thing is that, the Staff at the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan and Newport’s Royal Gwent Hospital have already received their scrubs.
