Bill Gates Condemns Donald Trump Over WHO Funding Suspension
As the on-going pandemic goes on, every bit of funding and donation to the healthcare services matter. At least, this is what most of us believe. Donald Trump’s decision to stop WHO funding comes at a time when they need it the most. Trump decided that it is reasonable to stop the country’s $ 400 million in funding to the world organization amid a global crisis. The co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, does not like the sound of that. Condemning his country’s president, he even called it a “dangerous” decision.
Bill Gates Condemns Donald Trump’s Decision
Bill Gates posted a tweet to present his thoughts over the recent news. The US President’s plan to drop funding to the World Health Organization is “dangerous as it sounds”, he wrote.
Halting funding for the World Health Organization during a world health crisis is as dangerous as it sounds. Their work is slowing the spread of COVID-19 and if that work is stopped no other organization can replace them. The world needs @WHO now more than ever.

According to Donald Trump, however, he thinks that the UN organization failed to deliver on its objectives, “failing its basic duty”. He also claimed that the global health organization tried to cover up the pandemic when it first took place in China. This is not the first time the USA has slashed WHO’s funding. Last February, the superpower cut down it’s $122.6 million funding to $ 57.9 million. While many claim this to be a selfish move, the nationalists of the country downright support his decision. Even under Bill Gates’ tweet, many people have come together to talk back at the tech mogul. Some even demanding that the previous world’s richest man, Gates, should pay the WHO as compensation instead.
Donald Trump explained his actions:
“American taxpayers provide between $400 million to $500 million per year to the WHO; in contrast China contributes roughly $40 million a year, and even less, as the organization’s leading sponsor, the United States, has a duty to insist on full accountability.”
There is a big question mark in his claim, as Unilad tells that China gave funding of $ 76 million. Trump also talked about how he ‘saved’ thousands of lives by banning travel from China. In actuality, the US has seen over 26,000 deaths, 10,000 of which have come from New York alone. So, is Bill Gates right to condemn?
