Quibi is finally here, managing to score 1.7 million downloads in its debut. The new streaming service is designed specifically for mobile users. Quibi reaches 2 million downloads in debut

Quibi is available for free right now:

Quibi is available at the Android and Apple app stores. Users will get a free 90-day trial if they install it this week. CEO Meg Whitman discussed the streaming service’s debut at CNBC. Experts estimated that the new guy on the block would manage to score 1.5 million downloads. However, Quibi rushed past that target by more than 200,000 downloads. It has enlisted a myriad of top-notch stars who will be starring in original shows. It includes Idris Elba, Liam Hemsworth, Will Smith, Kendall Jenner, The Rock, Ryan Reynolds, Queen Latifah, etc.

Whitman said that 80% of registered users watched at least one episode. However, considering each episode is 10 minutes long, that is not something to brag about. Moreover, the debut was unimpressive if you compare it to Disney Plus. Disney+ managed to score 3.2 million app downloads on its launch day, which is a tough act to follow. Quibi does not support TV casting, but developers are currently working on it.

Which shows are worth watching?

Quibi launched with more than 40 original shows. The subscription costs $4.99 with ads, but $7.99 for a seamless experience. So, people would like to know if there is anything worth watching in Quibi. Well, if you look past senseless shows like Chrissy Teigen’s Chrissy’s Court, Quibi certainly has something in store for everyone. The most popular one is I Promise, regarding the I Promise school opened by LeBron James in Ohio. The docu-series focuses on the stories of students and families in the first academic year of the school. Moreover, Sophie Turner’s Survive is also popular among teens looking for a rebound after GoT. Another action thriller series by Liam Hemsworth, Most Dangerous Game seems like a movie divided into clips.
