Former Vikings Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson Dead at 36, Cause of Death: Car Crash

Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback, Tarvaris Jackson has died at the age of 36. The cause of death: a single car crash.

The late NFL player, Tarvaris Jackson was driving alone in his 2012 Chevrolet Camaro a few miles outside of Montgomery. According to sources, his 2012 Chevrolet flipped over after it lost control and crashed into a tree nearby.

Tarvaris Jackson was taken to a hospital but couldn’t succumb to his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. No further information is available at the moment.

His former team’s official Twitter account released their statement in a tweet. Seahawks called Tarvaris Jackson’s death by car crash shocking.

The Seahawks are stunned and heartbroken after hearing the tragic news. He earned the respect of the organization and teammates with his competitiveness, toughness and professionalism. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.

Who is Tarvaris Jackson?

The 36-year-old late professional American football player hails from Montgomery, Alabama. He played as a reserve QB for most of his time with the Vikings (2006-2010). He became the backup quarterback for Russell Wilson amid Super Bowl XLVIII.

An incident in 2016 proved to be a turning point in his professional NFL career. According to police, Tarvaris Jackson was arrested for threatening his wife with a gun.

Jackson arrived home and kicked in the upstairs bedroom door before getting into a verbal altercation with his wife. Jackson then pointed a loaded gun at her and said, “I’ll kill you.”


Things mostly went downhill from after he was arrested. It was a huge blow to his NFL career. He shared the consequences of getting arrested later.

It hurt me a whole lot. Once they put my name up, of course that’s going to come up and (teams said), ‘We don’t want to deal with it.”
