Gone are the days when you needed a fortune to fund a movie. Cousins Robbie and Stephen Amell went on crowdfunding site IndieGoGo to raise $200,000. However, they were able to secure $2.5 million from more than 30,000 supporters. And now, the Amells have passed another milestone. Their movie is now available for streaming at Netflix, to more than 150 million people.
Code 8 now streaming on Netflix:
Robbie and Stephen Amell produce and act in the thriller movie. Code 8 is set in a world where 4% of the population is born with supernatural abilities, but instead of being billionaires or superheroes, they face discrimination and live in poverty. Connor Reed (Robbie Amell) is desperately trying to pay for his mother’s illness. He is contacted by a man named Garett (Stephen Amell) for a heist. However, both of them are unaware of what lies ahead of them. Stephen Amell has been teasing the release since quarantine began:

The movie is available on Netflix since April 11. Code 8 is also available on iTunes and Amazon Prime. It has a Tomatometer rating of 80%.
Robbie and Stephen Amell bring spinoff to Quibi:
Robbie and Stephen Amell are not just content with the movie’s success. They are currently developing a Code 8 spinoff series for streaming platform Quibi. The spinoff series takes place a few years after the events of the movie. The Amells will reprise their roles of an ex-con and a telekinetic drug dealer. Together, they have to bring down a trafficking ring run by corrupt cops and the city’s elite.
Also, Robbie Amell has a new show coming out on Amazon Prime Video on May 1. It is set in the future where “humans are able to ‘upload’ themselves into their preferred choice of the afterlife.
