I think there’s only one good thing about being stuck at home. And that’s the fact that we have all this time to listen to Selena Gomez on repeat. And lucky for us, Selena just dropped three songs from the deluxe edition of her latest album, Rare.

The three songs are called Souvenir, She and Boyfriend and they’re all hits already. Selena Gomez has a different style of music now and frankly, we are living for it.

But there’s one specific song that piqued everyone’s interest. And that is Souvenir. Not because it’s an incredible song. Or the fact that Selena sounds absolutely incredible in it. (Because she does) But because of completely different reasons.

Who Is Selena Gomez’s New Song About?

Fans seem to believe that Souvenir is about The Weeknd. Now if you don’t live under a rock then you’d know Selena Gomez and The Weeknd dated for 10 months back in 2017. Then Selena Gomez rekindled her relationship with Justin Bieber and The Weeknd got back with ex-Bella Hadid.

Now according to fans, the lyrics in ‘Souvenir’ are a not-so-subtle nod to the Starboy singer. How, you ask? Some eagle eyed fans spotted similar lyrics in Selena’s song that they had heard in The Weeknd’s song Call Out My Name. A song supposedly about Selena Gomez.

Selena sings, “Calling your name, the only language I speak” in her song. Whereas, the lyrics of The Weeknd’s song goes like this, “Call out my name when I kiss you so gently.”

Fans took this subtle similarity as proof that her new song is about her ex. And it wasn’t long that “Abelena” shippers seized the opportunity to ship them back together.

And it turns out, The Weeknd has a song called ‘Missed You’ on his new album that also include something about “call my name” and fans can’t help but notice how this is an “Abelena” thing.
