The coronavirus pandemic is wreaking havoc all over the world. Not only are over a million people diagnosed with it, but uncountable have also lost their lives due to it. One of them happens to be an SNL Producer by the name of Hal Willner. Recently, Jimmy Fallon dedicated a heartfelt tribute to him.

The SNL Producer passed away from COVID-19 coronavirus (SARS-CoV2) complications. What’s even saddening is that just a day prior to his death, Hal Willner celebrated his 64th birthday. 

In addition to serving as SNL’s sketch music producer, he contributed to a wide variety of other projects. He gained recognition for assembling tribute albums. The SNL Producer, throughout his illustrious career, worked with the likes of Lou Reed, Bill Frisell, Lucinda Williams, Laurie Anderson, etc.

Fallon was among the fortunate celebrities who worked with Willner. The Tonight Show host met Willner when the former joined SNL back in 1998.

Due to the pandemic, Fallon has been hosting his late-night talk show from home. The show’s title has also been changed to “The Tonight Show: At Home Edition” for the time being. He addressed Hal Willner’s death in a recent episode. Jimmy Fallon praised the late SNL producer and said that he loved and would miss him. 

“At this point, everyone either knows someone who knows someone who has COVID-19, or knows someone who has had it and beat it, or knows someone who has had it and passed away. Sadly for me today was my first passing, our good friend Hal Willner from Saturday Night Live, who was a music producer genius, creative genius. I loved him so much, every cast member loved him and we will miss him so much.

It was an emotional intro for sure. Hal Willner will definitely be missed.

As for Jimmy Fallon, he will join forces with Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel on April 18 to host “One World: Together At Home”. It is said to be a BIG TV event for promoting the battle against coronavirus. It will air on various channels with Lady Gaga curating the whole thing!
